The exomusée is growing in Le Locle

From May to October

In 2021, the Luxor Factory association is continuing its open-air museum project, dedicated to urban art. While the development of the exomuseum has been slowed down by the health crisis in 2020, enough signals are green to aim for a dream program in 2021. The program will be unveiled at the beginning of May, to be discovered on the future site www.exomusee.ch.

Aim of the exomusée:
▸ URBAN ART: creation of a cultural and tourist route in the town of Le Locle.

M-CITY works with the most important street art galleries in Europe.
Accustomed to vertiginous walls, Mariusz Waras was the man for the job to create a 420 m2 diptych at numbers 7 and 13 on rue de La Banque, in Le Locle. Inspired by mechanical universes, M-CITY questions our condition as mortals in this monumental work symbolizing the Keepers of Time.

NeSpoon [PL]

Stencils

Nespoon is a Polish street art artist based in Warsaw. Since 2009, she uses the motif of traditional lace, which she applies, in stencil, in the urban space. After intervening on the facade of Museum of Fine Arts and the Lace of Alençon in 2018, she will be this summer in Le Locle, the history of the city being intimately linked to the lace, well before the advent of the watchmaking. In the eighteenth and nineteenth century, lace was exported to the largest fairs in France and Germany, making Le Locle the most important village in the Mountains. Ardif [FR]

Stencil and paint

After studying maths (and spending time drawing during classes), the Parisian artist Ardif became an architect, a profession he still practices today. Since 2016, he has been populating the streets with half-animal semi-mechanical creatures. Fascinated by industrial design and steampunk, the young artist produces symmetrical works, all duality, to question our relationship to nature and how our insatiable quest for new technologies transforms it. One of his intricate works will adorn the back wall of the Maison DuBois, one of the oldest watchmaking houses in Switzerland (1785).

Project developed during his stay at the Luxor Factory:

M. CHAT

Thoma Vuille [CH-FR]

M. CHAT, an international street art star, is in residence at the Luxor Factory to create a big fresco on the Jeanneret School Center.

M. CHAT is a graphic creation of Franco-Swiss artist Thoma Vuille, appeared in 1997 in Orleans in Loiret. This enigmatic character always wears a huge smile. From 2003, white wings push him on the back. It is usually painted on walls, in inaccessible places.
We find the image of M. CHAT in European countries (England, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Bosnia and Herzegovina ...) and particularly in Paris (more than 80 walls painted), in Orléans where its creator founded in 2003 the contemporary art gallery Galerie Wall (now closed), but also in Rennes, Nantes, Tours, Trouville sur Mer, Blois, La Rochelle, Ile de Re, Sete, Saint-Etienne, Henin-Beaumont. We can also see it elsewhere in the world: New York, Hong Kong, Macao, Seoul, Hue, Dakar, etc.
M. CHAT is the main theme of a film by Chris Marker entitled Cats perchés in 2004, screened at the Center Pompidou the same year. A gigantic Cat is painted for the occasion on the forecourt of the Pompidou Center. The event is produced by Arte. To mark the event, the newspaper Libération offers a carte blanche to the author, just as he had proposed in the past to Annette Messager or Philippe Starck. An exchange between Chris Marker and Thoma Vuille concludes an article by Annick Rivoire on Chris Marker's film. (source: Wikipedia)

Antoine Jaccoud [CH] & Anne Golaz [CH]

Background work

Her next show, created at the Luxor Factory in Le Locle, invites the public to a Absinthe time in a burlesque atmosphere, of course, but more underground and poetic than ever. In her "sulfuric" worlds, her baroque eyes explore the life, her romantic mouth expresses her memories and her porous heart spongessorrows and joys. For her, everything is good to be stripped, even the soul. Under make up and huge hairdos, corsets and frilly panties, the cracks are comparable to wrinkles on the face. Whatever. It is always with humor and mischief she continues to do what she does the best: to love. A creation of Dark Room Company with: Miss Sulfuric and her pianist Miss Mary Long Ramone.
